Program Overview

Our 48-hour Online EKG Technician Program prepares students for employment as Electrocardiograph (EKG/ECG) Technicians. As an EKG Technician, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic tests to assess heart rhythm and rate in patients. EKGs are crucial in various medical situations, including pre- and post-operation assessments, routine physical exams, and when patients experience chest pain or have a history of heart disease.
This comprehensive course includes 48 hours of hands-on classroom instruction and provides eligibility to sit for the National EKG Technician Certification Exam.

Upon successful completion of the EKG Program, students will be able to:

  • Anatomy and Physiology: Identify and describe the anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology of major body systems, with a focus on the cardiovascular system.

  • Electrical Physiology: Explain the electrical physiology of the heart.

  • Cardiovascular Medications: Identify and discuss medications associated with the cardiovascular system.

  • Vital Signs: Accurately take a patient’s vital signs, including blood pressure measurements.

  • EKG Skills: Perform basic EKG skills using various machines (3 lead, 5 lead, and 12 lead).

  • EKG Artifacts: Recognize and prevent artifacts on an EKG.

  • Arrhythmias: Recognize different types of arrhythmias.

  • Pacemakers: Describe pacemakers, identify heart chambers paced by pacemakers, and assess pacemaker function.

Phlebotomy Externship & Certification

Externship

The Phlebotomy Technician Program includes a built-in externship. A clinical externship is required in California to obtain state licensure.

Because of our partnership with GCC Laboratories, our locations include an on-site lab so students can quickly finish the program and externship.

Beware of phlebotomy programs that do not guarantee externships, as this can result in a delay or failure to obtain state licensure.
