Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) Program
Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) – California
Phlebotomists are essential members of the healthcare team, responsible for collecting blood specimens through standard procedures. Their duties go beyond blood draws and may include checking patient records, verifying identities, processing samples, and providing instructions for other types of specimen collection, such as urine, stool, or sputum. They are trained to handle routine and more difficult blood draws, select appropriate supplies, and adjust techniques based on the needs of specific tests. Understanding how specimen collection affects lab results is also a key part of their role.
Phlebotomists must be familiar with patient rights, confidentiality regulations such as HIPAA, and must demonstrate strong communication skills and patient-centered care.
Program Objectives
Students who complete the CPT I program and pass the required national written exam will meet California’s qualifications to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I.

What Is a Clinical Medical Assistant?
The Clinical Medical Assistant Program equips students with the hands-on skills and practical knowledge to support clinical care and administrative operations in medical settings. For $2,995 or less, you can become certified as an entry-level clinical medical assistant in as little as 8 weeks. Interest-free payment plans are available, and everyone qualifies. No previous medical experience is required.
This is a hybrid course, with 50% instructor-led online lectures and 50% hands-on lab training. The program satisfies all training guidelines established by the Medical Board of California and is authorized to run through CALRegional’s partnerships with local schools.
Upon completion, students are prepared to take the national Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) exam through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
If you’re interested in administrative work but also enjoy working hands-on with patients, the Clinical Medical Assistant Program may be right for you.

Phlebotomy Externship & Certification
Externship
The Phlebotomy Technician Program includes a built-in externship. A clinical externship is required in California to obtain state licensure.
Because of our partnership with GCC Laboratories, our locations include an on-site lab so students can quickly finish the program and externship.
Beware of phlebotomy programs that do not guarantee externships, as this can result in a delay or failure to obtain state licensure.
